I am interested in content development and copy writing
of all sorts - especially web and interactive. |

I was recently laid off from Organic Inc., a web/interactive development
company in San Francisco, where I worked for almost 2 and a half
years (from 4/99 to 9/01). I started as a Sr. Writer and a year
later became the manager of the Editorial Department. My project
work included setting editorial standards for client web sites in
the form of style guides, editorial platforms, and nomenclature.
I produced all types of web copy including marketing copy, ad banners,
help coy, navigational copy, and copy for motion graphics. In addition
to project work, I managed a team of writers, I contributed to the
setting of web writing standards and documentation, contributed
to the development of a Writing for the Web workshop/presentation,
and researched and presented web accessibility standards for the
visually impaired.

Before joining Organic, I worked at Ikonic, Inc., a San Francisco
web development agency, for two years (from 3/97 to 4/99). As a
multimedia/web writer for client work at Ikonic I:
- Strategized and redesigned existing web site and multimedia
content
- Conceptualized, developed, and produced original editorial content
- Developed documentation and style guides internally
- Contributed to web site branding and nomenclature
- Contributed to internal web editorial methodology development
*Ikonic was bought first by USWeb, who merged with CKS, and then became
MarchFirst.

Prior to Ikonic, I was a writer at a small software company called
David Corporation (from 3/96 to 2/97) - which has since been folded
into a larger company. This was my first tech industry writing job
where I started as an intern after a completing Technical and Professsional
Wrting degree. I was then hired to contribute to their software
manuals, as well as to edit, write, and design their newsletter
and marketing materials.

I haven't always written for a living. Much of my former work life
has been spent teaching on some level, the most recent being Geneva
Center (from 6/91 to 2/96). I was the Sr. Instructor at Geneva Center,
a day skills program for developmentally disabled adults, where
my responsibilities included:
- Managing the schedules of 4 other teachers
- Leading the development of the curriculum for the center (about
40 clients)
- Teaching independent living skills classes (cooking, gardening,
travelling on BART, etc.)
- Managed the cases of 10 - 12 clients
- Trained new staff
- Developed proceedures and methodologies for running the center
